Central Kitchen & Catering Facility Investment

Factory canteens in growing OIZs, construction-site meal demand and corporate event catering together give a scale-driven central kitchen/catering facility a stable B2B demand base.

Bulk meal preparation inside an industrial kitchen

The staff canteen needs of factories in İskenderun, Erzin and Hassa OIZs, together with ongoing construction sites' bulk meal demand and corporate events' catering needs, combine to create a stable B2B demand base for a scale-driven central kitchen facility. This model can offer a more predictable revenue structure than individual restaurant operation.

What Project Types Are Worth Considering?

  • Factory/OIZ canteen service provider
  • Construction-site bulk meal service
  • Corporate event and meeting catering service
  • School/hospital canteen service provider

Which Areas Should You Consider?

Locations close to İskenderun, Erzin and Hassa OIZs give direct access to factory canteen demand. Central Antakya offers a separate opportunity for corporate event catering.

Licensing and Permit Process

  • Food safety certificate and food registry certificate
  • Special hygiene standards compliance for bulk catering service
  • Business opening and operating license
  • Required permits for cold-chain and transport vehicles

Incentives and Support

Region 6 incentives apply to food production/service facilities as well; large-scale, multi-year service contracts (like OIZ tenders) can also support the investment's financing terms.

What to Keep in Mind

Service contracts with OIZs and large corporate clients are typically determined through a tender process; preparing for these processes requires references and demonstrated capacity.

What does this data mean for an investor?

The top four districts (İskenderun, Antakya, Samandağ, Arsuz) hold 51% of businesses. It is notable that Samandağ and Arsuz rank ahead of the more populous Defne and Dörtyol, which suggests food production and sales are registered more densely in coastal districts than population alone would predict (interpretation). It is a starting point for reading competitive density district by district for restaurant, central-kitchen or food-brand investments.

Limitation: The count is registered food businesses subject to inspection; the type (restaurant, producer, retail) and size of business are not in the table. The “2025 realisation” and “2026 target” columns of the same table may relate to the inspection programme and were not used. A further 688 businesses are registered with the provincial Food and Feed Branch and are not allocated to districts.

Figures come from official sources; interpretations are Invest Hatay's own and are not investment advice.
